Tunisia ‘claims

On the occasion of the celebration of the International Solidarity Day with the Palestinian people, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a press release, today in which Tunisia reaffirms its unconditional support for the Palestinians’ right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign state throughout the territory of Palestine, with al-Quds for capital.

“While Tunisia commemorates, with the entire international community, the International Solidarity Day with the Palestinian people, it considers that this day should be rather” an international day of support for the law of the Palestinian people “.

Indeed, faced with the atrocity of continuous violations committed by the occupying entity on Palestinian territory, in violation of all humanitarian, legal and moral principles, the Palestinian people no longer only need solidarity and sympathy, but rather to recover their usurped law for self -determination and to end the occupation, an obvious right recognized both by the International Court Legal status of the occupation of July 19, 2024 and by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution ES10/24 of September 18, 2024, adopted in response to the CIJ opinion. This right was also honored by human community through the millions of people who paraded in the streets to denounce the crimes of war and genocide and to claim freedom from Palestine.

The crime of aggression and the forced seizure of territories, as well as the serious violations of international humanitarian law, are violations of the imperative standards of international law, they result in obligations which are incumbent on all and which manifest themselves by the duty of the States to cooperate in order to put an end, condemn and pursue these violations, in addition to the responsibility of the Security Council and the General Assembly of the United Nations, prejudice.

While recalling the content of the opinion of the International Court of Justice on the legal consequences of the Politicians and Practices of the Zionist occupation in the occupied Palestinian territories, which has recognized the illegality of the continuous presence of occupying power in the Palestinian territories and the need to end the new colonization activities and immediately evacuate the colonies, our country considers that the decision of the Court is in the event of the Court. to consecrate the principle of the supremacy of international law and to enforce these rules by all, without exception, without selectivity and far from the double standard.

Our country also expresses its deep disappointment and its condemnation of the odious silence of the international community and considers that the lamentable failure of the international community to enforce international humanitarian law, despite the conservatory measures decreed by the International Court of Justice to protect Palestinians to the Gaza Strip against the danger of genocide, only undermines the confidence of peoples in the capacity of the United Nations system and international security.

To this end, Tunisia calls on the international community to act immediately, effectively and responsible for putting an end to the hemorrhage of the war of systematic extermination against the Palestinian people in Gaza and in the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories.

She also asks the Security Council to get out of this situation of blocking and helplessness and to assume its natural role and its historical responsibility in the maintenance of international peace and security by imposing an immediate cease-fire, by putting an end to the flagrant and odious aggression against the Palestinian people deprived of any defense tool, by preventing all the plans of forced displacement and by imposing the entry of humanitarian aid.

Our country reaffirms its unconditional support for the right of the Palestinian people to recover their inalienable and imprescriptable legitimate rights, in particular its right to self-determination and to the establishment of its independent and sovereign state throughout the land of Palestine, with Al-Quds as capital.

On this occasion, Tunisia calls on all states to go beyond speeches without real impact and statements of position, to take concrete measures in order to consolidate international justice and to pay their obligations to all of humanity.

Our country also reiterates its support for Palestine’s demand to be a full member of the United Nations, while welcoming the vague international recognition of the State of Palestine and hoping that this trend will help support its full -fledged support to the UN without further delay and end the occupation. “
