Tunisia firmly condemned the strikes carried out against the Islamic Republic of Iran, in particular the bombing of its nuclear installations by the United States and by Israel, describing them as “blatant Zionist attacks”.
In a statement, the Tunisian authorities called for the immediate stop of this escalation, claiming that international law can in no case justify or cover such acts, whatever the reasons.
“Either international law applies to everyone, despite its imperfections, or it is purely and simply emptied of its meaning,” warns Tunis, denouncing a deliberate dismissal of the fundamental principles of international legality and a growing contempt for common rules.
Tunisia also insists on the need not to divert the attention of equally serious crimes, in particular the war of extermination in progress against the Palestinian people. The press release points to certain media which, according to him, overlook the violations committed by Israel and concentrate all the coverage on the confrontation with Iran. A maneuver perceived as an attempt to break the will of the Palestinian people to recover their legitimate rights.
“This will will never be flexing as long as the Palestinian people have not obtained all of their rights and established their independent state, sovereign over all of Palestine, with al-Quds for capital,” underlines Tunisia.
The Tunisian message also takes on a broader dimension, denouncing the gradual collapse of the international order inherited from the Second World War. For Tunis, the future belongs to free peoples, carrying universal human values, aspiring to real equality, respect for their right to self -determination and the final rejection of any form of discrimination.
Finally, the press release criticizes a vision of the world still marked by a hierarchy between “civilized nations” and peoples considered as inferior, even inhuman. A conception that Tunisia judges exceeded and dangerous, especially in a global context still marked by the consequences of colonialism, the conflicts maintained and the looting of resources.
