October 7, 2023 will remain engraved as a moment of historical resistance in the history of the Palestinian people. Hamas’ operation against Israeli occupation has broken silence and resignation, recalling the world the existence of a deprived people of their fundamental rights and condemned to oppression for decades. This day has marked a point of rupture with years of colonization, blockade and systemic violence.
Fifty thousand Palestinians are dead, Gaza is only a field of smoking ruins, and the West Bank undergoes methodical and brutal colonization. Behind these freezing figures is looming a strategic design whose sophistication borders on moral indecency. Each bombing, each demolition of house, each population displacement is part of a cold and calculated geopolitical logic.
The Hamas genealogy perfectly illustrates the perversity of these political engineering. Organization of a frequency initially supported by Israeli services and funded by Qatar, this movement is literally an artificial creation. Paradoxically conceived as a counter-power with traditional Palestinian nationalist movements, Hamas has transformed into a major player whose actions upset regional and international balances.
This conflict has considerably redrawn the geopolitics of the Middle East. The influence of Iran and Russia has been significantly eroded, with the marginalization of Hezbollah and the collapse of the Syrian regime. The great powers use this region as an immense diplomatic chessboard, where human lives are only sacrificable pawns on the altar of strategic interests.
Israel, despite the loss of a substantial part of his prestige with Western public opinion, maintains massive political and military support. The objectives are clearly achieved: fragment the Palestinian space, weaken any form of organized resistance and consolidate a territorial domination which is now similar to a pure and simple annexation.
This strategy serves not only immediate Israeli interests, but also meets the geostrategic objectives of the United States. Maintaining a permanent tension zone justifies a constant military deployment, testing weapons and controlling a nerve geographic space.
The humanitarian consequences are cataclysmic. Entire generations of Palestinians grow up in an environment of permanent violence, systemic destruction and negation of their fundamental rights. The international community, helpless spectator or silent accomplice, seems to have abdicated any desire for justice and peaceful resolution.
This conflict reveals a raw geopolitical reality: international relations are still too often built on logics of domination, structural violence and total contempt for civilian populations. The legitimacy of international law collapses in the face of the brutality of power relations, giving way to a law of the strongest increasingly assumed and brutal.
Palestinian tragedy thus becomes the symptom of a world order where humans are systematically sacrificed to the geopolitical and economic interests of the powerful.
