The Tunisian automotive market has posted a clear progression since the start of the year. According to figures from the national chamber of agents and car manufacturers, 42,367 vehicles were sold between January and June 2025. In comparison, 35,181 cars had found takers over the same period in 2024.

The official sector is progressing, the parallel market explodes

The approved dealers sold 30,089 cars, an increase of 13 % compared to last year. This improvement confirms the resumption of a market which remains sensitive to economic conditions.
For its part, the parallel sector records impressive growth. He sold 12,278 vehicles in six months, compared to 8,692 a year earlier. This represents an increase of 41 %.
This segment notably includes cars imported as part of the “FCR” customs diet, reserved for Tunisians residing abroad, as well as those sold in unauthorized points of sale.

Asian brands at the top of sales

In addition to this general progression, certain brands are clearly distinguished. Asian manufacturers occupy the first four places in the sales classification. Their success is explained by competitive prices, recognized reliability and a good network of after-sales service.
This domination also extends to so -called “popular” cars, which continue to attract modest households.

Popular cars gain ground

The demand for popular cars has increased sharply in the first half. A total of 5,056 units were sold, compared to 3,191 in 2024 over the same period. This segment remains shared between seven brands, mostly Asian.
The most accessible models cost around 28,900 dinars, while the most expensive reach 35,400 dinars. This price positioning makes it a privileged solution for many Tunisians.
