Meta services, including Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, Messenger and Threads, experienced a major breakdown this Wednesday evening.
The problems, reported on a global scale, prevent access to applications or cause difficulties in loading content, or even the impossibility of sending messages. The DowndeTector platform quickly recorded an explosion in reports, showing that the problem affects a large number of Internet users in several regions of the world.
The company confirmed that a technical problem was at the origin of the disturbances, specifying that it was actively working on a resolution. In a message published on X (formerly Twitter), Meta apologized and indicated that the situation gradually returned to normal for certain users. The breakdown is not a first for the group: last March, a similar interruption had lasted several hours, without explanation from the company.
On competing social networks, many testimonies have flocked to report dysfunctions, and hashtags like #facebookdown and #Instagramdown have been widely shared. Although Meta has not yet provided explanations on the cause of the breakdown, she seems to have impacted services worldwide. Users are now waiting for a complete return to normality in the coming hours.
