The units of the Monastir sea guard foiled, on Sunday, December 4, an attempt to cross illegal crossing towards Italy from the coasts of Monastir and rescued 22 people including 3 children and a young Syrian, said the basic union of the Maritime District of Monastir.
The union said that these illegal migrants have taken off on an unsuitable boat and in the face of an agitated sea, stressing that they were taken to the port of Sayada (Monastir) after being rescued.
Sayada’s sea guard was responsible for investigating the facts and identifying managers (smugglers and intermediaries).
