Syrian president Bashar al-Assad claims to have left Damascus at the request of Moscow.
The overturned Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, assured this Monday, December 16, not having fled Damascus premeditated on the day of taking the capital by the rebels, claiming that Moscow had asked for his evacuation, in his first declaration since his Damascus flight.
“My departure from Syria was not planned and did not take place during the last hours of the battle, unlike certain allegations,” Bashar al-Assad said in a press release on the Presidency Telegram.
“Moscow demanded (…) an immediate evacuation to Russia on Sunday December 8 in the evening,” added Bashar al-Assad, saying that Syria was now “in the hands of the terrorists”.
