Second telluric shock recorded in Monastir in 24 hours

A telluric shock of a magnitude of 2.6 degrees on the Richter scale was recorded, in the morning (05:50 minutes) of this Friday, March 10, 2023, south of the city of Zeramdine in the governorate of Monastir.

The data from the seismological stations of the National Institute of Meteorology, located the epicenter of the shock at 35.54 degrees of latitude and 10.73 degrees of longitude.

This is the second shock felt in the Monastir region in 24 hours and the third recorded this week.

Yesterday morning at 9:10 am, a first telluric shock of a magnitude of 2.5 degrees on the Richter scale was recorded in Monastir. Its epicenter is located 35.86 degrees of latitude and 10.90 degrees of longitude, off the sea 11.7 km northeast of Monastir.

A telluric shock had been recorded last Monday, at 9:23 am, of a magnitude of 3 on the Richter scale, in the delegation of Nefza of the governorate of Béja.

Today’s telluric shock has been the seventh since the start of the year, the strongest of which was reported on January 25, 2023 northeast of Chebba, a magnitude of 3.4 degrees on the Richter scale.
