At the invitation of the Italian Cultural Institute of Tunisia, the concert “La Grande Opera in Jazz” by Danilo Rea will take place on Saturday July 13 at 10 p.m. at the International Hammamet Festival.

“La Grande Opera in Jazz” is a unique project in the world which allows you to rediscover the Italian musical universe with a new and modern tone.

The voices of the great opera singers of the 20th century, such as Maria Callas, Enrico Caruso, Mario Del Monaco and Beniamino Gigli, are extracted from videos and historical recordings.

They will resonate in the sumptuous framework of Dar Sebastian in Hammamet during the Hammamet International Festival, accompanied by new piano notes, interpreted by one of the most important Italian pianists of the moment: Danilo Rea.

This visual and sound show is enriched by the art of video, historical images in black and white, as well as evocative and original contemporary works of art.

Danilo Rea is an Italian jazz pianist, born in Vicenza in 1957, but having grown up in Rome. He made his debut in 1975 in the “Trio Di Roma” with Enzo Pietropaoli and Roberto Gatto, and immediately accompanied Mina and Gino Paoli as a pianist.

He later collaborated with Claudio Baglioni, Pino Daniele, Domenico Modugno, Fiorella Mannoia, Riccardo Cocciante, Renato Zero, Gianni Morandi and Adriano Celentano.

He managed to win on the international scene to the point of playing with the biggest names in jazz such as Chet Baker, Lee Konitz, John Scofield and Joe Lovano.

His improvisations combine classics of jazz, opera tunes and Italian songs.
