This Thursday, July 10, 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) gave a major prize to President Kaïs Saïed. In Geneva, he received the shield from the International Convention on the Prevention of Pandemias. This price celebrates its commitment to a fairer and more efficient global health system.
Adopted in May 2025, this convention aims to strengthen global cooperation against pandemics. Tunisia has distinguished itself by calling in 2020 to a binding treaty. Kaïs Saïed then proposed to the director general of the WHO to create a dedicated international framework. This initiative responds to the gaps revealed by the COVVI-19 crisis.
In March 2021, Tunisia relaunched the call with 26 other countries. They want to guarantee equitable access to vaccines and save lives. This approach places Tunisia as a key player in global health.
This distinction values Tunisian engagement. It confirms the country’s desire to build a united future in the face of health crises. Kaïs Saïed wants solidarity to become the basis of global prevention.
