The Tunisian artistic scene is in mourning following the disappearance of Yasser Jeradi, an emblematic figure of art engaged in Tunisia. Jeradi, whose work has deeply marked an entire generation, leaves behind an invaluable artistic heritage and an immense emptiness in the country’s cultural landscape.
Yasser Jeradi died today at Mongi Slim Hospital in La Marsa. Although it does not suffer from any chronic disease, with the exception of hypertension. A few days before his death, he had presented breathing difficulties for which he had consulted a doctor.
However, on Sunday evening, his family transported him to Mongi Slim hospital due to abdominal and thoracic pain. A few hours later, Yasser Jeradi was the victim of heart discomfort. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, he unfortunately did not survive, according to trustworthy sources. He died of a cardio-respiratory arrest
The body of the deceased left the hospital and was transferred to Gabès, his hometown, where he will be buried tomorrow.
Yasser Jeradi was much more than a simple singer. He was an artistic activist, using his art to convey powerful messages on society, identity, and the contemporary challenges with which Tunisia is confronted. His commitment, through his music and his art, touched thousands of people, making him an essential voice of cultural resistance in Tunisia.
