From October 11 to 13, the new edition of Matabbia will have the theme of the life experiences of Sicilians in Tunisia and Tunisians in Sicily.
The Matabbia cultural event will take place from October 11 to 13 at Mazara del Vallo and will focus on the experiences of living together in Sicilians in Tunisia and Tunisians in Sicily.
Organized alternating in Tunisia and Sicily, the Matabbia manifestation takes its name from an expression of Tunisian origin which means “I would like” expressing desire and nostalgia. This expression has long been adopted by the Sicilians who lived in Tunisia.
The third edition of Matabbia is organized by the Banca Marsalese della Memoria, the Eurarabo Instituto of Mazara del Vallo, Dialoghi Mediterranei, the city of Mazara del Vallo, the diocese of Mazara del Vallo, the San Vito Foundation, Casa della Communita Speranza and Yasmine Del Méditerraneo.
This initiative is also relayed by the Italian Institute of Culture in Tunisia, the journal Il Corriere di Tunisi and Archivio Memorie Italiane di Tunisia.
