In an interview with the newspaper L’Opin this Sunday, February 2, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune clearly defined his country’s position on possible normalization with Israel. Asked about this possibility, he affirmed unambiguously: “Of course, the same day there is a Palestinian state”.
Tebboune recalled that this posture is a continuation of the policy of its predecessors.
“It’s going in the direction of history. My predecessors, Presidents Chadli and Bouteflika, whom God had their souls, had already explained that they had no problem with Israel. Our only concern is the creation of the Palestinian state, “he explained.
This declaration reaffirms the historical position of Algeria, which conditions any recognition of Israel to the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian State.
A position that is part of the traditional diplomatic line of the country on the Palestinian issue.
Recall that the official position of Tunisia concerning the normalization of its relations with Israel is clear and constant. President Kaïs Saïed has repeatedly reaffirmed that Tunisia firmly opposes any form of normalization with Israel, calling “high betrayal crime towards the Palestinian people” any link with the Hebrew state.
Thus, Tunisia maintains a policy of non-normalization with Israel, in agreement with its historical solidarity towards the Palestinian people.
