A shooting broke out this Tuesday, February 4 in a school in Örebro, a city located approximately 200 kilometers west of Stockholm.
According to local authorities, at least ten people were killed. “The danger is not over,” said the police, adding that the operation was still underway.
According to the first information reported by the AFTONBLADET newspaper, automatic weapon shots sounded in the school, sowing panic. The emergency services immediately reacted, reorganizing the Örebro university hospital to welcome the victims.
According to the same source, at least four injured were taken care of, but no details were communicated on their state of health or their age.
An important security device has been deployed around the school, while the police are trying to secure the area and identify those responsible for the attack. At this point, the police did not confirm an arrest. An investigation was opened for “attempted murder, criminal fire and aggravated offense in arms law”.
Reacting to this tragedy, the Minister of Justice, Gunnar Strömmer, said on public television SVT that “the government is in close contact with the police and closely follows the evolution of the situation”.
