The Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) is associated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to support films on the Palestinian cause with prices worth 250,000 Egyptian pounds

In an ambitious initiative, the Cairo International Film Festival, under the chairmanship of actor Hussein Fahmy, announced a strategic partnership with the Union de radiodiffusion des Embrees of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. This partnership, sealed during a meeting at the festival’s headquarters between Hussein Fahmy, Dr. Amr El-Leithy, president of the Oci Radiation Union, and actor Mostafa Shaaban, artistic advisor to the President of the Union, aims to support the films that deal with the Palestinian cause.

Concretely, the OIC undertakes to offer prices with a total value of 250,000 Egyptian pounds, divided into three categories: production, scenario and realization. These prices will be awarded to the films that authentically portray the tragic human situation experienced by Palestinian citizens in the face of current events.

Hussein Fahmy praised this collaboration by stressing the convergence of visions between the Cairo Festival and the OIC to promote and support cinematographic works highlighting the sufferings of the Palestinians. For him, this initiative represents a significant step in supporting artists engaged in the defense of human rights and the denunciation of injustices suffered by the Palestinian people.

Dr. Amr El-Leithy, for its part, has reaffirmed the Union’s commitment since its creation to support works dealing with the Palestinian cause. He also recalled that this initiative is part of a series of projects supported by the OIC, both national and international, aimed at highlighting the sufferings of Palestinian citizens.

Finally, Mostafa Shaaban, an artistic advisor of the Union, expressed his joy and pride in the face of this collaboration with a festival of the scale of the Cairo International Film Festival. He also highlighted the importance of highlighting stories that reveal the realities and the tests lived daily by the Palestinians.

This partnership strengthens the central role that art plays in awareness of the Palestinian cause, and shows how much cinema can be a powerful tool to awaken consciences and plead in favor of social justice. With these awards, the Cairo Festival and the OIC hopes to encourage the creation of committed works that challenge moviegoers not only, but also the general public, while stimulating the production of quality films that affect the heart of this burning humanitarian issue.
