This MOOC, Massive Online Open Course, both educational and fun, was developed as part of a public-private partnership bringing together experts from the National Heritage Institute, the Heritage Development Agency and Cultural Promotion, the Start-up Historiar and the Orange Foundation.

Founded by the Phoenicians, brought to its peak by daring navigators, merchants and builders, Carthage has shaped history. Queen of the Western Mediterranean, the city was, for long periods, the center of the world and its pole of attraction. Three times a millennium, the Punic metropolis belongs to the heritage of humanity.
How did this legendary maritime power have been born and prospered? What secrets do the remains of its immense military and commercial ports have? From its tragic destruction to its rebirth under the Roman Empire, how did Carthage crossed the centuries to become the archaeological gem that we know today?

The Mookids
For young people aged 8 to 12, the MOOC offers a dedicated sequence called Mookids. This interactive mini course aims to create adult/child common time around a cultural theme, with videos, online resources, activities and quiz.
Access to culture for all
The Orange Foundation has been engaged for several years in projects allowing the dissemination of knowledge to the greatest number. Since 2014, it has been developing cultural MOOCs in collaboration with large institutions. More than 260,000 people are registered on the MOOC cultural platform and thus could benefit from a free teaching that is both rigorous and friendly based on quality content.
Up to 40,000 people are part of each MOOC, which confirms the success of this content and shows the potential of digital technology to democratize access to knowledge and culture.
