At least three people died and two others were seriously injured this Saturday, December 16, 2023, following the collapse of part of the Kairouan medina wall.
This part of the wall located near the great mosque of Kairouan (Oqba Ibn Nafi) ceded even before the work of its renovation.
According to the civil protection of Kairouan, the game collapsed on workers and passers -by. The incident resulted in the death of two people and injured two others.
The civil protection teams quickly went to the scene, and the injured were transported urgently to the hospital.
The assessment is provisional and may increase all the more since, according to witnesses, two other people are still under the rubble.
The length of the wall which fell on the victims is approximately 30 meters.
In November 2018, part of this wall had collapsed without, however, victims.
