On December 5, the Kasserine’s first instance court had sentenced to 6 months in prison and a fine of 45 thousand dinars to the security officer who killed the young Ahmed Sou, who died in Sbeitla on July 5, on the follow -up by bullet injuries. His sentence was reduced on appeal.
Indeed, the security involved in the murder of the young Ahmed Sou, saw his reduced sentence, according to a judgment on appeal rendered this Thursday, January 4, 2024, to five months in prison and to thirty thousand dinars fine.
The suspect was initially sentenced to six months in detention and a fine of 45 thousand dinars for the benefit of the victim’s family, as a financial compensation. And this, for “manslaughter following the lack of precaution, negligence and non-compliance with laws according to articles 201 and 202 of the penal code”.
The case dates back to last July. The young man, Ahmed Sou, died following a firearm shot by a security guard during a descent into a sports betting room. The incident had caused tensions and violent exchanges to Sbeitla who last for several days.
Recall that the ballistic report confirmed that the victim lost his life after receiving a bullet during the clashes between a group of people armed with rifles and Molotov cocktails and the police.
