Gaza: 111 NGO alert on orchestrated mass famine, Paris increases the tone
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

While the humanitarian situation reaches a point of non-return in the Gaza Strip, more than a hundred organizations call for urgent international action. France, through the voice of the Quai d’Orsay, condemns the continuation of Israeli operations and requires the immediate lifting of restrictions on the delivery of aid.

In a joint declaration published this Wednesday, July 23, 2025, 111 international NGOs, including Doctors Without Borders, Amnesty International, Caritas and Doctors of the World, sound the alarm on the scale of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. They denounce a “mass famine” caused by the total blockade imposed by Israel for several months, which prevents the entry of food, drinking water and drugs.

Paris condemns the extension of the Israeli offensive

The signatories claim an immediate cease-fire, the opening of all the crossing points, and the end of Israeli military control on humanitarian aid, accused of having caused the death of more than a thousand civilians seeking to refuel.

At the same time, France has officially reacted, by A press release from the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. It firmly condemns the extension of the Israeli offensive in the center of Gaza, in particular in the Deir El-Balah region, which led to the movement of tens of thousands of civilians and hinders it to the work of UN and NGOs.

A system criticized by the United Nations

“Our colleagues and the people we help dumbfounded,” alert NGOs to their declaration. They claim that their reserves are exhausted and that their employees are themselves in danger of death. The Norwegian Council for Refugees (NRC) has also confirmed that its stocks are empty and that some of its agents are hungry.

Organizations point to the direct responsibility for the Israeli government, accused of having knowingly introduced chaos, famine and death in Gaza, maintaining a total blockade and by establishing a militarized aid system via the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (FHG), supported by the United States. This system is strongly criticized by the United Nations, because of its lack of impartiality and the violence it generates.

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs joins this alarming observation and requests the immediate lifting of all restrictions, in accordance with the conservatory measures imposed by the International Court of Justice. He condemns Israeli shots on Palestinians looking for food, who left more than a thousand dead in two months according to the UN.

An unprecedented humanitarian crisis

Since October 2023, Israel has been carrying out a large -scale military offensive against the Gaza Strip, in response to Hamas attacks. But this prolonged war, associated with an almost total blockade, plunged the Palestinian enclave into an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.

NGOs accuse Israel of voluntarily hindering the delivery of aid, despite the repeated injunctions of the international community. Many associations, such as UNRWA, complain that they can no longer work in disaster areas due to bombing and administrative harassment.

Access to massive, independent and continuous humanitarian aid becomes a vital emergency, while millions of Palestinian civilians now face a triple threat: bombs, hunger and thirst.
