The Tunisian civil protection units have controlled 143 fires in a single day, according to a report published Tuesday July 15, 2025. These interventions took place in different regions of the country between July 14 and 15. This peak of lights occurs in the middle of the summer season, marked by high temperatures.
Civil protection announced, in a statement published on Facebook that 143 fires were extinct in 24 hours, between 6 a.m. on July 14 and 6 a.m. on July 15, 2025. These fires hit several areas of the country, without precision on the most affected governorates.
A total of 568 interventions were carried out during this period, including 136 rescue and road assistance operations, as well as 277 various interventions (excluding traffic accidents).
High intervention figure could relaunch calls to vigilance, while temperatures exceed 40 ° C in certain regions. Prevention campaigns against forest and harvest fires had already been launched in early summer.
Each summer, Tunisia faces an upsurge in vegetation fires, often favored by heat, wind and sometimes by acts of negligence or malice. In 2023 and 2024, dozens of fire households had been identified between July and August, requiring a massive mobilization of the means of anti-fire.
