The Attorney General at the Court of First Instance of Médenine, Fethi Baccouche, confirmed that a Kalashnikov type gun, a quantity of ammunition, two chargers and a bayonet, were found on Friday, May 17, in an olive grove.
In a statement to the TAP agency, Fethi Baccouche suggested that this weapon as well as ammunition, have been hidden there for at least 6 or 7 years, specifying that the owner of the olive grove was carrying out cleaning work when he discovered the weapon before alerting the authorities.
A rating operation was then carried out by teams specialized on site, without having resulted in the discovery of other weapons. The Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered the judicial police to continue research and widen the sweeping.
