A violent fire broke out Wednesday evening in refrigeration warehouses belonging to a large company specializing in the production of milk and dairy products, located in the Soliman region, governorate of Nabeul.
The flames ravaged an area of approximately 5,000 square meters of warehouses containing large amounts of butter, raw materials for the production of yogurt and sugar. The total area of refrigeration warehouses is around 7,500 square meters.
Civil protection spokesperson Moez Triaa said that the fire first declared in a refrigeration warehouse in Boucharray before spreading to two large neighboring warehouses. These warehouses contained raw materials for the manufacture of yogurt, butter and sugar.
Triaa said that the civil protection units have been able to significantly progress in controlling the fire. However, extinction operations are still underway. The firefighters managed to prevent the spread of flames with an area of 2,500 square meters of refrigeration warehouses.
In a press release, the company Délice Holding wanted to specify that the fire occurred in one of the storage deposits rented by one of its subsidiaries.
