The Arab-German Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) is now completing its annual autumn conference which takes place in Tunis.
The Beit El Hikma Academy welcomed the solemn opening of this international meeting of young Arab and German researchers. Entitled “Innovate Ensemble”, this interdisciplinary conference was inaugurated on Monday 25 November in the presence of many researchers.
Several speeches were pronounced on this occasion. After the words of welcome from Mr. Mahmoud Ben Romdhane, president of the Beit El Hikma Academy, and and Mrs. Simone Maassen-Krupke, representing the German Embassy in Tunisia, the Director General of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Malek Kochlef, also addressed the members of AGYA and their guests. Finally, Ms. Verena Lepper spoke in her capacity as principal researcher at AGYA.
After the official inauguration, the two co-presidents of AGYA expressed themselves in their turn: it is respectively of Lobna Said (University of Nile, Egypt) and Sascha Hein (Free University of Berlin, Germany).
It was then the Tour of the Agya alumni to speak through the voice of their representatives Maha Nasr (Ain Shams University, Egypt) and Kalman Graffi (Bingen Superior Technical School, Germany).
A conference by Jelel Ezzine (National School of Engineers in Tunis) completed the program for this opening morning. The Tunisian academic has treated the theme “Confronting the polycris: united by the courage to sketch tomorrow”.
The work continues until today Thursday, November 28 and has made it possible to debate several current questions. In addition, the General Assembly of AGYA has been held as well as several technical meetings and other networking events.
Note that the Academy AGYA (Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanités), based in Berlin, in Germany, has just organized its annual autumn conference in Tunis, for the first time since the launch of this academy in 2013.
AGYA is financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF | Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung).
