The municipality of Nabeul launched the installation of 6 charging stations for electric vehicles, thus becoming the first municipality in Tunisia to set up this equipment.
This project is involved in the context of energy transition, energy saving and encouragement for the use of electric vehicles by providing electricity from alternative energy sources, in particular solar energy.
This initiative to install recharge points for electric vehicles is part of the execution of the “Alliance des Municipalities for the Energy Transition” program, which includes 7 pilot municipalities in different regions, with the contribution of the National Agency for Energy Management.
Hajer Bejaoui Municipal official revealed in media statements that the charging stations have been installed in three municipal sites: the headquarters of the municipality of Nabeul, the municipal district of Sidi Omar and the municipal deposit of Nabeul.
She underlined that the recharging points located at the headquarters of the municipality of Nabeul are powered by electricity from electricity production stations from solar energy installed in the municipal car park, carried out as part of another model project concerning public lighting using solar energy in several large streets of the municipality of Nabeul using LED lamps.
She also observed that electric recharge points will be mainly intended for municipal cars and trucks as part of energy saving programs and high fuel costs, but also for individuals.
