The International Film Festival of the Red Sea (RSIFF) celebrates its fourth edition this year, which will take place in Djeddah, Saudi Arabia, from December 5 to 14, 2024. As part of its prestigious opening ceremony, the festival will pay tribute to two emblematic figures of world cinema: Aamir Khan, one of the most influential artists in Indian film industry and Emily Blunt, an internationally acclaimed British actress.
Aamir Khanactor, director and recognized producer, marked the history of Indian cinema thanks to masterpieces such as 3 idiots (2008), PK (2014),, Dangal (2016) and Laal Singh Chaddha (2022)a touching adaptation of Forrest Gump. His career, which extends over several decades, has enabled him to redefine Indian popular cinema while addressing major societal themes.
For his part, Emily Blunt is praised for his talent and versatility, especially in films like The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), A quiet place (2018) and more recently Oppenheimer (2023). Named to the Oscars, she established herself as an essential reference to contemporary cinema.
These two artists will join the Egyptian actress Mona Zakialso put in the spotlight. A true icon of Arab cinema, Mona Zaki represents Egypt this year in the Oscar race for best international film with Flight 404a daring drama exploring complex societal dilemmas. Currently on a promotional tour in the United States for this film, she will join the festival directly to discuss her career and her artistic choices.
Known for its significant performance in Women in Cairo (2009) by Yousry Nasrallah and Perfect Strange (2022), a worldwide success on Netflix, Mona Zaki also shines on television with series like Leabet Newton (2021) and Taht El Wesaya (2023).
In addition to these tributes, Aamir Khan and Emily Blunt will participate in the discussion series “In conversation with…”, who invites influential personalities to share their experiences, their reflections and their passion for cinema. Among the other stakeholders announced are Eva Longoria (Only Murders in the Building),, Andrew Garfield (The Social Network, Tick, Tick… Boom!) And Ranbir Kapoor (Animal).
