The regional tourism delegate in Djerba-Zarzis, Hichem Mahouachi, said this Thursday, July 17, 2025 that the occupancy rate of hotels on the island of Djerba currently reaches 90 %, with 32,000 tourists hosted in hotel establishments, not to mention those who have opted for other types of housing such as rentals.

During an intervention on national radio waves, he said that 500,000 tourists visited the island during the first half of the year 2025, an increase of 18 % compared to the same period in 2024.

The number of overnight stays recorded also experienced a significant increase, exceeding 2.5 million, which represents an increase of 13.6 % compared to the same period last year.

Hichem Mahouachi estimated that all the tourist indicators of the year 2025 are positive, stressing that the figures recorded so far are slightly increased compared to those of 2019, considered as a reference year for the sector.
