It took time, a lot of time, but the historical moment has finally arrived. The National Society for Operating and Distribution of Water (SONEDE) has proudly announced – and solemnly – the installation of electronic payment terminals (TPE) in all its agencies across the country.
Yes, you read that right. In 2025, the SONEDE discovered that you can pay otherwise that in cash or with superhuman patience at the counter. The public establishment thus promises its users “easier, safer and more comfortable” regulations thanks to the bank card.
In a statement that feels good the pride of having caught up for thirty years of technological delay, the company specifies that this measure aims to “improve the quality of its services and simplify payment procedures”. We can already imagine the emotional scenes at the first validated card beep.
It remains to be seen whether the water will flow with the same regularity as VSEs … or if we can soon settle a water cut directly by card, just to stay in the tone of progress.
