The National Institute of Statistics (INS) has just unveiled the names most attributed to newborns in Tunisia in 2022. Maryem and Youssef are the favorite first names for the second consecutive year.
In detail, in girls, Maryem retains his place on the podium. Then follow the first names Rayhane, Lina, Mayar, Essil, Beya, Soujoud and Jouri, Yasmine and Eline.
In boys, the trend is not to change compared to 2021. Youssef is at the top of the list. In second place, the first name Haroun is followed by Yahya, Adem, Mohamed, Ahmed, Zakaria, Yassine and Sajed.
By comparing the most popular first names of 2022 to those of 1922, we find that only the first names Mohamed and Ahmed managed to maintain themselves in the top 10 of the most attributed first names for newborns for a century. For girls, no first name has managed to keep its position over time
