Tunisia: 12 years in prison against the ex-SNCPA CEO

The former president and chief executive officer of the National Cellulose Society and Alfa paper (SNCPA) in Kasserine was sentenced on Friday July 18, 2025, to twelve years in prison by the Tunis court of first instance. He was prosecuted for corruption acts linked to the handover of public procurement.

The criminal chamber of the Tunis court of first instance pronounced a sentence of twelve years in prison with immediate execution against the former CEO of the Société d’Alfa de Kasserine, found guilty of having abused his function to obtain industrial advantages for his benefit or for the benefit of third parties.

Corruption

The court has retained several charges: exploitation of the quality of public official, affected by the administration, and violation of the regulations in force relating to public contracts, within the framework of contracts concluded by the company during its management.

The former leader was tried in flight, after the accusation chamber of the Tunis Court of Appeal decided to send him back to criminal justice.

One more affair

This is not the first time that this former senior official has been convicted. He had already been tried in absentia more than 20 years in prison in another case linked to Sanki breath, former secretary general of the Regional Labor Union in Kasserine.

The criminal chamber of the Tunis court of first instance pronounced, last Tuesday, a sentence of 10 years in prison against Sanki breath, after being found guilty of corruption and fraud during the exercise of his duties as department head at the Alfa factory and Kasserine’s paper pulp.
