Coordinated operations were carried out in Bekalta (Monastir) and Djerba (Médenine) to restore order on the Tunisian coast. Several offenses have been noted and equipment seized.

This Friday, July 18, 2025, a campaign to raise offenses was carried out on the beaches of Bekalta, in the governorate of Monastir, under the supervision of the regional office of the Littoral Protection and Development Agency (APAL), in coordination with the municipality of Bekalta and the Maritime Guard of Dimas.

PV and seizures

During this operation, 13 minutes were drawn up against offenders for non-compliance with legal authorizations and illegal occupation of the maritime public domain. Several equipment used in these abuses have been seized.

In addition, in the governorate of Médenine, a similar campaign has targeted the beaches of Houmet Souk, Ras Remal and Djerba Midoun. It made it possible to note 12 offenses, some of which are committed by hotel units, according to Noura Abdelhafidh, Regional Director of Apal.

Towards strengthening control

The Apal reaffirmed its firmness with regard to abuses on the maritime public domain. In Médenine, local authorities also announced the continuation of the cleaning and securing operation of 16 beaches in Djerba and Zarzis, launched last May, and which will continue until September.

Summer pressure on the coastline

Each summer, the Tunisian beaches face an anarchic exploitation of the public domain, with illegal facilities, in particular by commercial establishments. These practices hamper free access to the coast and harm the coastal environment. The Apal regularly leads campaigns to enforce the legislation.
