A case of corruption and mismanagement splashes the municipality of El Mdhila, in the governorate of Gafsa. The Public Prosecutor’s Office to the Gafsa Court of First Instance ordered the opening of a judicial investigation against any person involved, following suspicions of abuse of function.
The survey, entrusted to the Research and Investigation Brigade of the National Guard of El Ksar, relates to abusive position operations by public officials to obtain illegitimate advantages or cause damage to the administration.
This procedure was initiated after the discovery of a municipal deposit containing equipment, in particular tractors, abandoned and left in the state of dilapidation.
The visit of the governor of Gafsa behind the complaint
This investigation comes in parallel with a complaint filed by the governor of Gafsa, Slim Frouja, with the public prosecutor on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
During an unexpected visit to the municipal pound of El Mdhila, the governor noted serious irregularities, in particular a lack of equipment and spare parts for certain machines, as well as negligent management and a lack of surveillance within the deposit.
Among the problems noted are the degraded state of tractors and equipment belonging to the municipality, as well as indices of mismanagement likely to prejudice the public heritage. These observations have led the governor to seize justice so that the light is made on those responsible for these shortcomings.
