The young supporter Mohamed Amin Touihri, arrested in the Tunisia-Malawi (2-0) match at the Radès stadium, counting for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, was released.
Initially kept in detention, it was finally released after a decision by the public prosecutor of the Ben Arous first instance.
This supporter of the Eagles of Carthage had burst into the field during the meeting, brandishing the Palestinian flag, then torn an advertising banner of Carrefour, one of the sponsors of the national team. This action had led to his arrest and his presentation before the Ben Arous first instance court on Tuesday.
The young man, who will also be heard as a complainant for suspicion of aggression by security agents, is accused of having infringed the property of others.
Wael Naouar, activist within Tunisian coordination for joint action in favor of Palestine, followed this case closely. During his press conference, he announced that the supporter had been released after a short detention.
This gesture of protest, although it has aroused reactions among the defenders of the Palestinian cause, while the Tunisian justice continues its investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
