After 12 years of absence, Tunisia is making a comeback at the U-17 African Cup of Nations which will take place from March 30 to April 19, 2025. The Carthage Eagles, placed in group D alongside Senegal (holding the title), Gambia and Somalia, will start their campaign on April 1 against Somalia, informs the TAP agency.

The stakes are high: a qualification for the U-17 World Cup in Qatar (November 2025) awaits the first two of each group. Thanks to the expansion of the tournament at 16 teams and African globalist places to 10, Tunisia sees its chances increase significantly.

Coach Mohamed Amine Neffati displays his ambitions: “Our goal is to go as far as possible to get our qualification to the World Cup,” reports the same source. To achieve this, it relies on a balanced group mixing local and young talents evolving in Europe, notably Anis Saidi (San Diego), Slim Bouaziz (AS Rome), Houssem Zaier (FC Zurich) and Wissem Tissa (FC Sochaux).

Tunisia, which has already participated three times in the World U-17 (1993, 2007, 2013), hopes to relive the world adventure for the fourth time in its history. During her last participation in 2013, she had crossed the first round before losing in the round of 16 against Argentina.
