On the occasion of the Army Festival, the President of the Republic presided, this Tuesday, June 24, a ceremony for promoting high officers, stressing the historical and strategic role of the military institution.
The head of state, Kais Saied, in his capacity as supreme leader of the armed forces, presided over Tuesday, June 24, 2025 the ceremony marking the 69ᵉ anniversary of the creation of the Tunisian national army.
On this occasion, two senior officers were promoted to the rank of general division: Brigadier General Saleh Ben Abdessalam and Brigadier General Lamjed Hammami.
This celebration reminds of Tunisia’s attachment to a republican army, faithful to its mission of defense of the territory, national sovereignty and security of the country.
Created in June 1956, the Tunisian army played a decisive role in the major stages of contemporary history of the country, especially during the battle for the evacuation of colonial troops, as well as during the events of Sakiet Sidi Youssef and Remada.
A respected institution, the national army remains a pillar of stability, embodying the values of discipline, sacrifice and loyalty to the fatherland.
