During a working meeting held yesterday Monday, December 23, 2024, the governor of Sousse, Sofiane Tanfouri, urged the president of the regional council and the presidents of the local councils to strengthen coordination with the delegations in order to identify and treat all the environmental offenses disrupting the well-being of citizens.
The governor also recommended delegates to “give priority to field work and break with bureaucratic practices”.
Sofiane Tanfouri asked the secretaries general of the municipalities to replace the managers of the municipal cleanliness services if the environmental situation did not improve. He has set a period of one week to carry out their missions optimally.
During the meeting, the governor presented a series of recent photos highlighting environmental problems, including the accumulation of household waste and construction debris in several main districts, areas and crossroads.
The Governor judged that the efforts of the municipality of Sousse, which covers four delegations and collects around 220 tonnes of household waste per day, remain below the objectives set. He also noted that this insufficiency applies, to various degrees, to all municipalities and delegations, depending on the density of the population.
