Faced with the escalation of armed violence in Tripoli, Tunisia expressed its “deep concern” on Friday as to the possible repercussions on the security of Libyan citizens and foreign nationals.
In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tunis called for immediate arrest hostilities and urged the various Libyan parties to favor dialogue rather than weapons.
Tunisian diplomacy insists on the need to have “the voice of wisdom” prevail and to place the national interest above the divisions, within the framework of a global political process carried out under the aegis of the United Nations.
Tunisia, emphasizing historical ties and common destiny with Libya, has reaffirmed its provision to welcome an inter-Libyan dialogue on its soil, in coordination with the UN mission, to help build a unified, sovereign and stable state, capable of responding to the aspirations of the Libyan people.
