Tunisia strengthens its industrial ambition. On the occasion of the second edition of the CETIME sectoral meetings, organized on Tuesday June 24, 2025 in Sousse, the chief of staff of the Ministry of Industry, Afef Chachi, announced the launch of the development of a Competitiveness pact for the aeronautical component industry. A strategic framework modeled on that already implemented for the automotive sector.

Displayed objective: Structuring an integrated vision for these two sectors with high potential, registered as a priority in the national industry and innovation strategy. The ministry wants to accelerate the transition to an intelligent industry based on research, development and advanced technologies.

The mechanical and electric industries sector, a pillar of the Tunisian industrial economy, alone represents 46 % of national exports. In this panorama, aeronautics occupies an increasing place, with Nearly 80 companies and more than 7,000 jobs created. This segment saw its turnover multiplied by 15 in ten yearsaccording to official data.

The automotive component industry is not to be outdone. Strong Over 280 companiesof which 140 fully exportingshe generated 3.1 billion euros in exports in 2024or an increase in 16 % compared to 2023.

AFEF Chachi called to strengthen synergies between SMEs, large companies, research centers and public institutions. The goal: to create a new industrial dynamic, better aligned with global technological changes.

During this meeting, organized in Novation City in Sousse, several workshops made it possible to identify the needs of the sector, to imagine common projects and to strengthen bridges between industry, innovation and training.

Cetime, founded in 1982, plays a central role in this strategy. With 15 technical laboratories, including 13 ISO 17025 accreditus, it asserts itself as a lever for intelligent industrialization and the rise in Tunisian skills.
