Scorching Wednesday in Tunisia: up to 42 ° C expected

An intense heat wave settles in Tunisia this Wednesday, June 25, 2025, with maximum temperatures which should reach up to 42 degrees in certain regions, according to forecasts from the National Institute of Meteorology (INM).

Time promises to be not very cloudy throughout the country, but marked by a suffocating feeling, especially due to a warm and dry wind that accentuates the feeling of warmth.

Temperatures will be particularly high in the interior regions and areas of the center and the south of the country. In these regions, mercury will generally vary between 36 and 42 ° C, with locally higher points under the effect of Chergui, a continental wind known for its drought and its ability to quickly increase temperatures.

The wind, blowing from the southern sector, will remain low to moderate in the morning, before gradually strengthening in the afternoon. The coastal areas and reliefs will be the most exposed to gusts, which could also promote the increase in the temperatures felt and increase the risk of fire in wooded or agricultural areas.

The health and meteorological authorities call on the population to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, especially between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., hydrate regularly and pay attention to vulnerable people, especially children, the elderly and those with chronic diseases.
