Julian Assange supports children from Gaza to Cannes

Julian Assange made a remarkable appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, dressed in a black t-shirt bearing the names of 4,986 children under 5 years old killed in Gaza since October 2023.

On the back: the message “Stop Israel”. This gesture, supported by its support committee, is presented as a silent cry against a human tragedy. He intervenes then that Assange promotes a documentary “The Six Billion Dollar Man” devoted to his fight for transparency and freedom of information.

The message of Assange is part of a series of artistic and political positions which, for several weeks, have challenged international public opinion.

Alongside his wife Stella Assange, the former political prisoner, free since last June, paraded on the steps of the Palais des Festivals, with his T-shirt.

Recall that Gaza is the subject of a devastating Israeli military campaign. More than 53,000 Palestinians were killed, mainly civilians, including thousands of children. The humanitarian blockade imposed by Israel was largely condemned by NGOs.
