Greece releases 35 Tunisians arrested during a descent into a call center

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians abroad announced this Thursday, May 22, 2025, that the Greek authorities released 35 Tunisian nationals arrested on May 16, during a descent to the premises of a company specializing in remote services (call center) in Athens, during which more than a hundred people, employees and workers of various Arab nationalities, had been Arrested.

The ministry said, in a statement, that following the arrest of Tunisian citizens, coordination was immediately set up with the central services of the ministry, allowing rigorous and real -time follow -up of the case.

The Tunisia Embassy in Athens dispatched, in the evening of the same day, a team of civil servants at the detention center in order to inquire about the situation of Tunisian detainees. Representatives of the embassy also met an official of the center concerned.

In cooperation with the authorities of the detention center, the diplomatic mission was able to organize two meetings with the Tunisians arrested: the first on Monday May 19, 2025, during which 20 people were met, and the second on Tuesday May 20 with the other prisoners. These meetings made it possible to assess the conditions of detention and to identify the needs of nationals.

An interview also took place with the lawyer mandated by the company concerned to defend prisoners. The Tunisians arrested were presented in groups before the prosecution from May 20, 2025 and for three days. All Tunisian nationals heard on May 20 and 21 have been released.
