As the high summer season approaches, the Ministry of Tourism puts double bites to improve reception on Tunisian beaches. Minister Sofiene Tekaya announced, Wednesday, June 25, a major program with a global envelope of 5.6 million dinars intended to strengthen cleanliness and equipment in 62 tourist municipalities across the country.

This plan, drawn up in coordination with the Ministries of the Environment, the Interior and the Littoral Protection and Development Agency, concerns 133 public beaches spread over 170 kilometers of coastline. It aims to offer a more attractive seaside environment, in particular by focusing on the quality of services and hygiene, elements deemed essential for the tourist image of the country.

Reinforced support for tourist municipalities

Currently, 57 municipalities are integrated into this program, and 5 news should join them this year. The State provides for logistical and financial support through the tourist areas protection fund, which allocates 1.5 million dinars to the coastal agency to organize mechanized cleaning campaigns in these municipalities.

At the same time, an envelope of 2.4 million dinars was reserved for the strengthening of local hygiene programs, while 1.7 million additional dinars will allow the acquisition of suitable equipment and equipment.

Priority to local tourism

“It is a question of guaranteeing the best reception conditions, especially for Tunisian families, which constitute an essential component of internal tourism,” said the minister during an information day devoted to the promotion of local tourism.

Sofiene Tekaya also insisted on the need to combine the efforts of the various actors, by focusing on innovation and creativity, in order to make internal tourism a lasting lever for regional development and economic revitalization.

With this plan, the authorities hope to meet the growing expectations of summer visitors while enhancing the reception standards on the Tunisian coast, the cornerstone of national tourist attractiveness.
