The Ministry of Health called on Wednesday, citizens to avoid swimming in 28 coastal areas, deemed unfit due to water pollution, for the sake of preservation of public health. He also assured that monitoring coastal areas continues and that the public will be kept informed of any development.
As part of its quality bathing water monitoring program, 539 points were checked along the Tunisian coast. The analyzes of the month of June 2025 indicate that 71% of the beaches have a satisfactory water quality, but 28 points are classified not in accordance with swimming, distributed as follows:
Tunis governorate (1 beach)
- Rue Bach Hamba (La Goulette)
Ben Arous governorate (15 beaches)
- Rades: 100 m south of Marouane beach / opposite the thermal power station / opposite the civil protection building / 100 m north of the mouth of the wadi Meliane
- Ezzahra: 100 m south of the mouth of the Meliane wadi / opposite the mouth of the maaïzette / mouthpiece of the Bouhassa wadi
- Hammam LIF: opposite rue Major / opposite rue de la Méditerranée / opposite rue Salah Major / opposite Samou avenue / opposite rue Habib Thamer / In front of rue Aziza Othmana / Old Draft of Chouaïba / Cie
Governorate of Ariana (6 beaches) – Raoued
- Crowd of Sebkha / opposite the Akrout Equestrian Center / Residential Lotissements of Raoued Plage / El Qadha Quarter / Canal El Khalij / 50 m north of the El Khalij canal
Bizerte governorate (6 beaches)
- Jalta beach (Bizerte) / Al Alia (Menzel Jemil) / Sayefra, Fishermen’s area and Sidi El Hachachi (Menzel Abderrahmane) / Canal 1 and Canal 2 (Zarzouna)
The ministry recalls that these prohibitions are taken as a preventive basis, pending the improvement of the quality of water in these areas.
