The meeting organized in collaboration with the research laboratories ATTC and Intersignes, took place on Friday February 21 at 10 a.m. and was moderate by Sonia Fitouri Zlitni.

Saturday: two games in Tunis

Two meetings are on the program of the French writer Patrick Chamoiseau on Saturday February 22.

Alliance Française de Tunis

As part of the Arts Factory, a meeting around “Creolity, Language and Memory” will take the form of a tribute to Patrick Chamoiseau.

This meeting will constitute a dive into the world of literature and resistance through the figure of Patrick Chamoiseau, major writer of West Indian literature.

His works, mixing poetic and orality prose, explore memory and Creole identity with unequaled force. The meeting will be moderate by Ahlem Ghayaza, Besma Kamoun and Bessem Aloui, and will offer crossed views on a work where memory and revolt come across.

The meeting will take place on Saturday February 22 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the premises of the Alliance Française de Tunis.

French Institute of Tunis

Prix ​​Goncourt in 1992 for his novel “Texaco”, Patrick Chamoiseau is one of the theorists of Creolity.

Studied at the Tunisian University, Chamoiseau’s work is the subject of several academic research.

This writer will be on Saturday February 22 at 6.30 p.m., the guest of the French Institute. An exceptional evening will bring together Patrick Chamoiseau and his readers to the auditorium of the French Institute in Tunis. This meeting will allow to debate with Patrick Chamoiseau and also to listen to extracts from his works read by Ahlem Ghayaza accompanied in Qanoun by Imen Mourali.

Tuesday: two games in Sousse

Tuesday, February 25 at 6 p.m., Patrick Chamoiseau will be at the French Institute in Sousse for another meeting-debate which will be preceded in the morning by a visit to the Faculty of Sousse Letters on the initiative of the School and Literature Research Laboratory (Larel). The winner of the French -speaking international prize Loys Masson in 1987 and the Goncourt Prize in 1992 for his Texaco novel, will be attentive to students and teachers.

Her presence will be a precious opportunity to discuss her latest novel “What can literature when she can’t?” “(Seuil, February 2025), as well as on his tales, his essays, his reflection on Creolity, his plays and his approach to cinema.

Wednesday and Thursday: two games in Sfax

Finally, the French writer of Martinican origin will be present in Sfax on February 26 and 27, 2025. On the program, a meeting followed by a musical reading at the Maison de France on February 26 at 4 p.m. On this occasion, Ahlem Ghayaza read extracts and will be accompanied by the Loïc Poinsenet clarinet. A final meeting is scheduled for February 27 at 10 a.m. at the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences in Sfax at the initiative of the Interdisciplinary Research Laboratory in Speech, Art, Music and Economy (Laridiame).

Note that the presence of Patrick Chamoiseau in Tunisia is part of the itinerant project, the impact of which will have been significant courses of the past academic year. This project has indeed favored fruitful exchanges and constituted a vector of convergence and transversality, both academic and intellectual, while strengthening international partnerships and exchanges.
