The Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelfattah, participates from June 23 to 23 in annual meetings of the Asian Investment Bank in Infrastructure (AIIB) which are held in Beijing. On this occasion, he chained yesterday a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of large Chinese financial institutions.
During his interview with Liu Junfeng, vice-president of the Chinese Cooperation Agency for International Development, several development projects scheduled in Tunisia were reviewed, including the reconstruction of the El Menzah Olympic stadium and the Medical City Aghlabide in Kairouan.
According to a press release from the Tunisian Embassy in Beijing, the Minister praised the interest expressed by China for the project to rehabilitate the stadium of El Menzah, affirming the Tunisian will to accelerate the deadlines and quickly go to the execution phase. He also underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation with the Chinese agency for the realization of new development projects, in particular in the infrastructure, public transport and health sectors.
In addition, during a meeting with Yang Dongening, vice-president of the Chinese import-export bank (China Eximbank), the two parties emphasized the need to boost bilateral relations and activate the clauses of the strategic partnership. The objective is to find the appropriate financing mechanisms for development projects in Tunisia and to encourage Chinese companies to extend their activities in the country, by taking advantage of its competitive assets.
