The Tunisian Ons Jabeur, ranked 36th in the WTA ranking, qualified this Thursday for the third round of the Rome tournament (WTA 1000), disputed from May 6 to 18, following the Patra Kvitova Czech package (830th in the world).
Dispected from the first round, Jabeur was originally to face Kvitova, who had imposed himself in the previous round against the Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse (83rd in the world) in two sets.
In the third round, the Tunisian will face the winner of the match between the Italian Jasmine Paolini (5th in the world) to the New Zealander Lulu Sun (46th), programmed meeting for this Thursday.
Ons Jabeur has already shone on Roman clay, reaching the final of the 2022 edition, where she had lost to the Polish Iga świątek.
The Rome tournament is one of the major meetings of the battered earth season, in a prelude to Roland-Garros, second lifting of the Grand Chelem, scheduled from June 25 to June 8.
