A young man, born in 1999, immune by fire on Thursday around 11:30 am, in front of a police station under the South South area.

According to initial information, he initially went to the premises of the police to demand the return of a sum of money seized within the framework of a judicial case concerning him, linked to the consumption of narcotics, reports Jawhara FM.

The agents indicated to him the procedure to follow, adding that the sum in question had been transferred with the file to justice.

After leaving the scene, he returned about thirty minutes later and, taking advantage of a moment of inattention from the police, he set fire to his own body. The police immediately intervened to extinguish the flames before alerting civil protection. Transported urgently to hospital, he is currently under medical surveillance.

Following this incident, the public prosecutor and the investigating judge in charge of the case went there, then to the hospital, in order to carry out the necessary investigations and collect the evidence.

In the evening, tensions broke out in front of the police station in question. A group of young people tried to cause disorders by launching projectiles and using smoke bombs as well as a bottle containing flammable substances. The police intervened to disperse the troublemakers, and an investigation was opened to identify the officials.

According to Wissem Cherif, spokesperson for the first instance court of Sousse 1, the young man suffers from third degree burns and a procedure is underway for his transfer to the Gauce de Ben Arous hospital.
