Aurélie Gonet, 38, is about to take up an extraordinary challenge: rally Tataouine, in Tunisia, from Dijon by bike. Behind this journey of 4 to 6 months hides a social mission: to fight growing prejudices towards the Maghreb and its population.
“The distrust of the Maghreb is growing. A certain little rewarding speech is released. I want to show another reality, ”explains this former communicator on her Instagram account, now a biographer. His project was born from an early passion for Berber culture and an exchange touching with a Tunisian teenager on Instagram.
From December 1, she will cross France, Spain, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, favoring meetings with the inhabitants. “I’m not afraid. I think we can feed on the cultural richness of this region, ”says this experienced globetrotter who has already traveled 7,200 km to Beijing.
His adventure will be shared on social networks through a weekly photographic logbook. Objective: to testify to the generosity and hospitality of local populations, far from clichés. An online prize pool finances this trip which combines sports challenge and social commitment.
This initiative is part of a broader approach: “I want to go beyond fantasies and confront the reality on the ground”, underlines Aurélie, who counts on these authentic meetings to develop mentalities.
