Russia condemns “climbing” after Israeli strikes in Iran
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

In the aftermath of Israeli strikes on nuclear and military sites in Iran, Russia expresses its “deep concern” and condemns a “dangerous escalation” in the Middle East. Moscow, a strategic ally of Tehran, calls for restraint while warning the risk of a major regional conflagration.

Russia expressed, this Friday, June 13, its profound concern and firmly condemned the “strong climbing of tensions” after the Israeli air strikes that have targeted nuclear and military installations in Iran.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov assured that President Vladimir Putin was held “informed in real time” of the evolution of events. In the process, the Russian Embassy in Israel has advised against this country.

Moscow regularly recalls its position: any military action against Iranian nuclear installations must be excluded, invoking the risk of a “regional disaster”. At the beginning of April, Mr. Peskov had already underlined the need for diplomatic regulations for tensions related to Iranian nuclear.

The surprise visit of President Putin in Iran in January 2025 had strengthened the links between the two countries: a global strategic treaty for cooperation was signed, covering civil nuclear energy, defense, trade and the establishment of an economic corridor connecting Russia to India via Iran.

However, this alliance remains cautious: if Russia supports legal and non -military sanctions against Iran, the partnership does not include mutual defense commitment.

Last April Moscow warned against any strike targeting the Iranian nuclear sites, warning that such an action could trigger a “regional disaster”.

Russia warns that the strikes of the Israeli operation called Rising Lion Operation – having touched up to 100 installations including nuclear sites – may trigger an uncontrollable spiral

Russian statements and diplomatic initiatives in the coming days will be decisive to find out if the region will approach the war or if a controlled de -escalation will be possible.
