The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, received, Monday, July 7 at the Palais de Carthage, the Minister of Transport, Rachid Amri, to take stock of the state of the sector.
At the heart of the interview, the general situation of public transport infrastructure, an area that the Head of State considers requiring a deep overhaul. “This public service must be fully rebuilt on new solid bases,” he said, reiterating that Tunisia will give in neither his establishments nor its public facilities.
Kais Saied also praised Tunisian skills in the fields of air and sea transport, stressing that their expertise is recognized abroad. “It is no coincidence that many international companies seek to recruit them,” he added, as a response to critical voices that doubt national capacities.
The President of the Republic has also called for the acceleration of the imported bus routing process, in order to relieve users of public transport faced with growing mobility difficulties.
