During a dinner at the White House, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wanted to publicly greet the commitment of US President Donald Trump in the search for peace and security, especially in the Middle East.
Speaking before the press after the opening remarks of President Trump, Netanyahu stressed that “President Trump leads strong leadership in many countries, and today especially in this sensitive region”. He also highlighted the collaboration between the Israeli and American teams, which he described as “extraordinary combination to meet the challenges and seize opportunities”.
The Israeli Prime Minister recalled several major achievements of the Trump presidency, notably the American strikes against Iran and, above all, the Abraham agreements, which he considers a diplomatic turning point. “The president has already made great progress. He forges peace, country after countries, region after region, “he said.
In a symbolic gesture, Netanyahu got up to give President Trump a letter addressed to the Nobel Prize Committee, in which he proposed his candidacy for the prestigious peace prize. “This price is well deserved,” he said.
Donald Trump expressed his recognition: “Wow, coming from you, is particularly significant”.
Note that the procedure for appointing the Nobel Peace Prize is open to several categories of people, including government elected officials, former winners and certain academics.
